It’s too much. It’s just too much. My people hail from a soggy, damp island and quite frankly, I’m just not built for this kind of heat.
The dog has barely moved in the last three days. I placed a wet towel on her yesterday afternoon while I ran out to the dollar show to escape the inferno that is my house and when I returned, there she was. Still on the floor. Towel in place. She never moved.
Prior to Erie, I was living on an island off the coast of Maine, so these temperatures are driving me insane. So much to the point that knife-wielding maniacs in Tokyo seem to make a queer sort of sense to me. Nuclear war, random acts of violence, arguing with the neighbors, all perfectly logical things to do when it’s this damn hot.
Spending the day in the library-where it’s cool-and civilized…

I’m with you. Us Irish folk can’t tolerate it so well. Finny’s routine is quickly go outside, do his business, and come back inside to lounge on the cool basement floor. And drink copious amounts of water. My cats are stretching themselves out as long in front of the fans. Poor critters.

I feel so awful for the pooch. She can not get comfortable no matter what she does. I may just throw her in the tub tonight and hose her down with tepid water.

Agreed~it is too hot! My dog too is stationary on the cool tiles of the basement floor. I also froze a couple of bottles of water and some soaked wash cloths and let her play with those when she gets a spurt of energy. She seems to enjoy it! Enjoy the library. Stay cool, if you can. Keep hydrated.

Just send us some of those degrees, we’ve got about 54° Fahrenheit here, wouldn’t mind about 20 more or so…

Hey, any time you want to house swap (our island house in Maine, for yours in Reykjavik, you just let me know! 65 degrees is my max temperature, anything higher and I am one miserable beast.

hey, doesn’t sound bad, not bad at all! Does the house take all 5 of us?
Won’t be this year, though, I’m travelling way too much this summer, but let’s think about this…

BTW Hildigunnur, If you and Inmate1972 do decide to do a house swap, I’d be happy to show you and your family around the island. It’s a beautiful place.
My wife and I have been trying to get Inmate1972 and Salorman back here ever since they moved to beautiful downtown Erie, PA.
Hey Inmate, I’m picking up a new bottle of Cruzan Blackstrap for your visit! Put your drankin’ shoes on!
